Ubisoft to Release Franchises More Regularly, Knows Gamers Starving for Next-Gen

May 16, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

Ubisoft, in order to fulfill consumer need, will release its games even more often.

Ubisoft knows that you want more Assassin’s Creed. It just knows. After many successful years of releasing its biggest game annually, the French studio has decided that it wants to bring new sequels to the world more often than ever before.

It’s Ubisoft’s "major production capacity" that will help this process move even smoother. During the company’s earnings call, CEO Yves Guillemot claimed that the firm will be able to develop and push new games at greater speeds due to its network of 26 studios and more than 7,000 developers across the world.

"We believe that our major production capacity, strong of a network of 26 international studios and over 7,000 developers, now optimized with our lead and associate organization, will allow us to come with an enhanced pipeline of increasingly high quality franchises and new IPs," Guillemot said.

The growth of the online market and introduction of a new generation of consoles will continue to push Ubisoft forward.

"We will be able to release our franchises more and more regularly, providing solid visibility on our future revenue and profitability streams," he continued. "All that, combined with the online expertise and know-how that we have been growing steadily internally make us believe that we will benefit disproportionately from the arrival of the new generation and from the continued growth of the online market."

It’s been eight full years since Xbox 360 first hit the market, and Ubisoft believes that the consumer desire for some new piece of technology to appear is massive. Gamers are “starving” for next-gen consoles, and that’s one of the main reasons they’ll need an even more new products from Ubisoft to fill that void.

With the company’s $83.3 million profit and approval of Sony’s PlayStation 4, Ubisoft might just be able to pull off releasing more than one annualized franchise each year.
