Metro: Last Light Patch Adds FOV Tweaking, AMD Support

May 16, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

You can now alter the game’s FOV in Metro: Last Light.

Metro: Last Light developer 4A Games has made good on their promise to release a patch allowing players to modify the game's field of vision (FOV). The patch, which has just gone live on Steam, allows players to modify the FOV by editing the game's user.cfg file.

Here's how and what to do:

After starting the game up, the user.cfg will be updated with the r_base_fox attribute. You can find this in %LOCALAPPDATA%\4A Games\Metro LL\. Tweak it at your leisure.

Altering the FOV will allow you to have a wider field of vision so you can see more stuff on the screen. The reason that it's hidden away in the cfg file and not configurable within the game's options is because changing the FOV isn't officially supported as it makes Artyom's hands look a little wonky when viewed from a non-default FOV. Either way, it should allow players to take some nice screenshots of the game and play it without feeling claustrophobic.

In addition to the new support for FOV tweaking, the patch addresses shadow corruption on AMD cards.

To download the patch just start the game up as normal and it'll update automatically.
