PS Plus in the EU Gets Kingdoms of Amalur Free in June

May 15, 2013 by Jordan Erica Webber

The Instant Game Collection also gets ICO, Shadow of the Colossus HD, Demon’s Souls, Rayman Origins, and Coconut Dodge Revitalised.

Sony has revealed the June update for PlayStation Plus in the EU and yet again a solid lineup of games will join the Instant Game Collection over the course of the month. As per usual, three are for the PS3 and two are for Vita.

First on the list is Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, the highly rated RPG from the now-closed 38 Studios. You explore a fantasy world as a customisable hero from one of four races – the Almain (civilised humans), the Dokkalfar (dark elves), the Ljosalfar (light elves), and the Varani (nomadic humans) – and can specialise in Might, Finesse, or Sorcery.

Next up is a two-in-one sort of deal with two beautiful games from Sony Japan: ICO and Shadow of the Colossus HD. Both of these games started life on the PS2 but were very highly critically received. In ICO, you try to help a young girl called Yorda escape from a fortress. In Shadow of the Colossus, you ride out to defeat a variety of colossus foes, each of which has different weak spots.

The last PS3 game to join the collection in June is Demon's Souls, the precursor to Dark Souls. This action RPG is just as hard as its successor, so it's worth a try if you like a challenge.

The first Vita game in the collection is the awesome Rayman Origins, predecessor to the upcoming Rayman Legends. The game works extremely well on the Vita, with lots of short levels and touchscreen features that add to rather than complicate the experience.

Finally, Coconut Dodge Revitalised is the HD version of the PlayStation mini from FuturLab.

Is this collection enough to tempt you into getting PlayStation Plus? What games would you like to see join the collection in July?
