Review: Logitech F540 Headset

March 1, 2011 by Eric Swain

Logitech F540 headset will keep you gaming through the night.

If you're the type of gamer like I am, then you're simply never satisfied with your gaming gear. Let's picture it, it's 12:00 AM and you're getting that gaming sensation itch. You know, the one that runs up the spine and your hands and fingers start to take shape of holding a game controller. But you just can't turn on the system and wake up everyone in the house or room with constant game audio blaring. Now Logitech has your back with their F540 Wireless headset. Before I jump right into the review I want to give a big thanks to Logitech for sending out the headset to review.

Logitech Wireless Headset F540 has the ability to have a triple input capability which is made possible through the wireless base station. However, Logitech is not limiting you to only have the headset for console or PC, you can have sound inputs from TV, digital music players or even a Squeezebox if desired.

Overall the main focus of the headset is for gamers. I found the headset to be extremely comfortable to wear which never gave any problems during extended gameplay. The overall gray plastic headset comes with a soft black cushions for the ears and head giving a soft padding, also the weight of the headset felt light which is something I personally like when it comes to headsets or headphones. Sound quality of the headset was very nice and kept a great amount of noise cancellation.

The F540 has all the controls located on the left side of the headset. Here you will find a volume control for in-game sounds, voice chat volume control, microphone mute and connections for Xbox 360 and PS3 controllers for chat and charging the headset. The microphone is also located on the left side of the headset where you can easily bring it down to chat or leave it upright which will leave the microphone turned off.

With a 2.4GHz connection you are free to roam about your room and play your favorite games without having to suffer from any consequences. If you are concerned about the lifespan of the rechargeable battery in the headset let me assure you not to worry. At a fully charged state you are able to play for a solid 10 hours before a recharge is needed. Once that battery is drained completely, then you're looking at a 3 hour recharge.

After testing Logitech's F540's I quickly found the headset a must have with great multipurpose functions. You can pick the F540'S up with a $149.99 price tag at http://www.logitech.com
