Wolfenstein: The New Order Announced, Releasing Later This Year

May 7, 2013 by Stephen Daly

Following yesterday’s teasers Bethesda’s announced a new Wolfenstein.

Bethesda has announced Wolfenstein: The New Order PlayStation 3, PS4, PC, Xbox 360, the next Xbox and PC with the game coming later this year.

Yesterday the publisher posted a number of teasers for the title and made clear that while they would not be developing the game they would be publishing it.  MachineGames is heading up production duties on the title.

"As fans of the series, working on this gams is an honour, and our team is driven to create an unforgettable action-adventure experience that will make FPS fans proud," said MachineGames' creative director Jens Matthias in a press release.

MachineGames was founded by former StarBreeze developers in 2009 and acquired by Bethesda's parent company Zenimax Media in 2010.

While the game is set in the 1960s the Nazis are still the bad guys. The trailer opens with a drill spinning rapidly while the voice over says "All that was gone, they set the world on fire. It wasn't a war anymore, it was a remaking."

We're then shown a series of missiles and other weapons being produced with a backdrop of London and New York. We then see that the weapons are being put together for "a new world, an army of steel."

We see a large number of these metal soldiers approach a man on the ground and are told "they [the Nazis] are re-writing history."

As the trailer ends B. J. Blazkowicz adds "but they forgot about me."

This is a developing story, check back for updates.
