Gamer Network Partners with Family Gamer TV and TeamVVV YouTube Channels

May 3, 2013 by Jordan Erica Webber

Is more video content the right way to go?

Gamer Network – the network that includes Eurogamer, GamesIndustry International, VG247 and more – has announced that it will bring more video content into its family via partnerships with two YouTube channels: Family Gamer TV and TeamVVV. These two channels will join the relatively new Outside Xbox to bring the Gamer Network forwards, as video content becomes more and more popular when compared to the written word.

For those who don't know, Family Gamer TV is a channel run by UK-based journalist and dad Andy Robertson, otherwise known as “GeekDad” on Wired. The channel launched in 2011 and has been particularly popular when covering topics like Skylanders, Disney Infinity, and the various LEGO games. One example of the latter is the video we told you about yesterday in which Robertson explains a glitch his kids discovered in the 3DS game Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins.

TeamVVV (Veni Vidi Vici, or “I came. I saw. I conquered.”) has a very different focus, concentrating on driving games above all else. Here's the description from the TeamVVV website:

“TeamVVV bridges the gap between automotive gaming, simulation, lifestyle and real motor racing, bringing gamers closer to motor sport while giving an aspirational feeling to upcoming or potential talent. Offering news, in-depth features and interviews with major players from both the motor and games industries.”

Have you ever watched either of the channels above? Do you think that incorporating content like this is a good way for gaming sites to move forward?
