The Crowded Streets Of New York City As Emulated In An Endless Running Game For iOS

April 30, 2013 by Matt Hawkins

Thanks to Sidewalker, the first endless running game that’s actually an endless walking game.

It goes without saying that the endless running genre has exploded in recent years on iOS. And there's quite a few decent offerings to choose from, everything from the game that essentially started it all, Temple Run, to Sonic Dash, which stars the console super star in a mobile game that actually makes sense, at least for him.

Though none of these games, or most other examples are exactly relatable. And that's the key differentiation of Sidewalker, an upcoming game from Gutpela. Instead of running high atop some ruins, trying to evade some beast that wants to rip your head from your body, you're instead hustling across the crowded streets of the Big Apple, in hopes that your boss doesn't attempt the game:

Speaking as a resident of New York City, the game emulates the experience of trying to dodge tourists and not get hit by taxicabs to an uncanny degree.

Sidewalker will be available on the Apple App Store on May 9th.
