Intel’s New Thunderbolt Technology

February 24, 2011 by Eric Swain

Intel’s releases information on their new Thunderbolt technology.

Intel has released information today on their new Thunderbolt technology, a new high-speed PC connection technology that will bring together a high-speed data transfer and high-definition display on a single cable. Thunderbolt runs at a 10 Gbps, which can transfer a full-length HD movie in less than 30 seconds. Intel's Thunderbolt technology is coming to the market with Apple, you can expect to see Thunderbolt on Apple's new line of MacBook Pro laptops.

Intel made Thunderbolt to move media fast. Along the way Intel made Thunderbolt connections simple between devices and foster new ideas to build and operate PCs. Thanks to Intel we can now combine high-speed data and HD video conections together onto a single cable. Thunderbolt technology delivers via two communications methods, PCI Express data transfer and DisplayPort for displays.

Thunderbolt technology is designed to meet demands for HD media creators. Now you are able to use high-bandwidth audio and video capture or mixing devices, and get a extreme low latency with a high accurate time. With a high 10Gbps, larger files are able to transfer faster so less time is spent waiting. This also true for anyone wanting to backup any data. PC users can now have a single connector that extends high-speed media and HD displays to a new level. Again you will see this new technology on Apple's new MacBook Pro.
