SimCity Fixes Being Implemented to Address Update 2.0 Bugs

April 29, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

The update that was intended to fix SimCity needs to be fixed.

At this point in the narrative, it only makes sense that a massive update intended to fix the many issues that players have had with EA and Maxis Games’ SimCity would cause even more problems with the game.  Top-requested bug fixes and improvements were seen in last week’s patch, which forced the game to go offline for a number of hours. But it looks as if improvements to this update will be added over the coming weeks in order to once again fix the game.

"We are reviewing feedback and bugs that are reported and are working on additional fixes and upgrades,” Maxis said. “Below you will find some of the areas we are focused on improving over the next several weeks. In addition to the specific issues below, we are continuing to improve the traffic simulation and decrease the need for rollbacks.

  • Issue: Some players experiencing higher than expected regional air pollution. Status: Working on a fix.
  • Issue: Demolish issue that occurred when players demolished buildings that had service vehicles, delivery vehicles, or agents out in the city or region. Previously, the agents would be in a state of limbo and would not recover when new buildings of that type were placed.Status: Fix works in newly created cities. Working on a fix for pre-existing cities.
  • Issue: High School buses stuck in neighboring cities. Status: Working on a fix.
  • Issue: Reports of Game Crashes. Status: Working on fixes.

At this point, it’s a bit difficult to know how all these fixes are going to actually turn out. Players aren't exactly trusting of either the developer or the publisher at this point, so the coming weeks should be interesting for this city simulator.
