THQ Finalizes Sale of Darksiders, Supreme Commander, Red Faction, and Other IPs

April 23, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

THQ has liquidated its assets, which now belong to other companies.

THQ is set to receive $6.55 million for the sales of their last remaining intellectual properties, which went to Gearbox Software, 505 Games, and Nordic Games.

The defunct publisher announced today that it has completed the bidding and sale process of its intellectual properties with three buyers, who have emerged to pay the sum for the six available lots, which include Darksiders, Red Faction, MX vs ATV, Homeworld, and Drawn to Life.

The breakdown of the $6.55 million sale is as follows:

• $4.9 million from Nordic Games, a Swedish-based video games publisher, for Darksiders, Red Faction, MX vs ATV, Other Owned Software – includes Destroy all Humans!, Summoner and more, and Other Licensed Software — includes Marvel Super Hero Squad, Supreme Commander and more.

• $1.35 million from Gearbox Software, a Texas-based developer of interactive entertainment, for Homeworld.

• $0.3 million from 505 Games, an Italian video game publisher, for Drawn to Life and Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter.

THQ expects the Bankruptcy Court to hear the sales motions on May 13, 2013, to finalize the deals. The publisher filed for bankruptcy earlier this year, exiling all of its developers to uncertain fates.

Thankfully, many of these developers were since picked up by companies like Sega and Deep Silver, along with the titles they were working on.
