Assassin’s Creed 4 ‘Trove of Mastery’ Treasure Map Surfaces

April 9, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

Edward Kenway will be digging up lost treasures.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is set in the West Indies, and that means it'll be getting an all new map that sets it apart from its predecessors, which were set in the American Colonies, Constantinople, Rome, greater Italy, and the Middle East.

Unlike the earlier games, players will navigate throughout the West Indies on Edward Kenway's flagship, the protagonist's primary means of transportation. You'll still have to make your way on foot through the game's many locales, but getting around will generally require the use of the ship. The game's land-based missions will comprise roughly 60% of the game, with the remainder focusing entirely on naval missions.

Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag Trove of Mastery map

In any case, a new map for Assassin's Creed 4 has surfaced (via Gamingbolt) and it appears to depict the "Trove of Mastery", with locations spread throughout the West Indies, including Nassau, Havana, Tortuga, Kingston, and the surrounding islands. There are various X's which mark spots on Andreas Island, Cayo Island, Florida, and Cat Island. The four locations surround Nassau.

Given the name of the map, we can assume that the marks indicate four buried treasures, or four parts of a single treasure scattered into four pieces.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is set for an October 29 release on the PC, and both current- and next-generation platforms including the PlayStation 4.
