Ubisoft Toronto Working on Future Assassin’s Creed Project

March 28, 2013 by Stephen Daly

Studio head Jade Raymond says the developer is at work on five franchises.

Ubisoft Montreal president Jade Raymond has told Polygon the studio is working on five IPs including a collaberation on an upcoming, unannounced Assassin's Creed title.

"We have two big collaborations coming that we're not talking about, on two of the biggest franchises at Ubisoft," Raymond revealed. "We also have two new IP."

The fifth game franchise the studio is involved with is Splinter Cell with development ongoing for Splinter Cell: Blacklist due later this year.

Raymond declined to comment on the new Assassin's Creed game but said "The thing that's great to me is that there is still some of my favourite people who, you know, we were in the trenches shipping the first one. We lived through all that stuff together and some of the guys are still on the franchise and have been there. So it's a just for me to work with some of those people again."

Earlier this month Patrice Desilets, one of key creators of the Assassin's Creed franchise, returned to Ubisoft following a stint at the now defunct THQ though it's believed Desilets is working on IPs started at THQ and purchased by Ubisoft rather than resuming work on Assassin's Creed.

Yesterday Raymond spoke about what she called "exciting concepts" coming from indie developers and said studios don't need next-gen hardware to be innovative.

Some of the established franchises Ubisoft Montreal could be working on include the Far Cry and Rayman IPs.
