Ubisoft France Studios' president Xavier Poix expects Rayman Legends to be a "huge system seller" for the Wii U despite the game now going multi-platform he told GamesIndustry.
"We don't have any disappointments compared to the installed base (on Wii U)," Poix said. "We are just hoping that Nintendo's results for Wii U will be a bit bigger.
"Selling a new way of playing can take some time, and we know the power of the brands from Nintendo and we know from the fans that the majority of what will be the system sellers are not available. And on our side, Rayman will be one of them for sure. We really expect Rayman to be a huge system seller for the console," Poix added.
"There will always be an appetite for more beautiful games" Poix commented.
When Ubisoft announced that Legends would be delayed and was going multi-platform Geoffrey Sardin, the chief marketing and sales officer for the EMEA region, said "we heard from many Xbox and PlayStation owners and Rayman fans who told us they really wanted to play Rayman Legends on their current system.
"We decided to to give the fans what they wanted while at the same time broadening the audience exposed to this innovate and memorable game," Sardin concluded.
Earlier this month GameStop president Tony Bartlet said the retailer has seen "slower than expected" sales of the Wii U. Nintendo have reduced their sales forecasts from 5.5 million to 4 million by the end of this month.
