No PS4 Downgrade For God Of War Confirms Artist

January 26, 2018 by Jordan Coetsee

Don’t panic!

god of war, ps4, gameplay, e3 2017

During this week, Sony unveiled the release date for the reboot of God of War. From April 20, fans of the epic hack ‘n’ slash series will be able to explore a brutal, sprawling realm of Norse deities and mythical beasts.

Alongside this reveal came lots of controversy surrounding a possible downgrade for the title due to certain alterations in the trailer. Luckily one of the artists for the game confirmed to a fan that there was, in fact, no downgrade. Rather games will understand why the trailer looks different in the context of the game.

“What has changed is just the direction of light and fog, the content is the same as the E3 trailer, but different context, you will understand when you play. The Jormungandr, Kratos and Atreus continue exactly like the trailer  are comparing with other scenes and lights. I’m laughing seeing the comments :)”

Looking to pick up the God of War reboot? Here are the versions of the game you’ll be able to choose from:

At the most expensive tier is the Stone Mason Edition ($149.99 USD/$199.99 CAD), which features a range of physical items including a Stone Mason’s ring, 9″ Kratos & Atreus statue, 2″ Huldra Brothers carvings, a Steelbook case, exclusive lithograph, Mimir’s Head talking keychain and cloth map. It also packs in digital content bonuses in the form of 2″ Horse and Troll carvings, and a Defender of the Chosen Shield. The Collector’s Edition will set you back by $129.99 USD/$169.99 CAD, and affords you a slightly smaller set of physical-only treasures including the 9″ Kratos & Aretus Statue, Steelbook Case, 2″ Huldra Brothers Carving, Exclusive Lithograph and Cloth Map.

Last but not least, the Digital Deluxe Edition comes in at $69.99USD/$89.99 CAD and includes the full game download, a God of War digital artbook and digital comic issue, dynamic theme, Death’s Vow armour set and Exile’s Guardian Shield. Please note that both the Collector’s and Stone Mason Editions also feature the same digital content.
