BioShock Infinite Infographic Reveals the Script is Longer Than a Novel

March 25, 2013 by Jordan Erica Webber

Would you rather read a novel or play BioShock Infinite?

In preparation for the launch of BioShock Infinite, which is out in all regions tomorrow, Irrational Games has Tweeted an infographic that provides stats on the game and its development. Don't worry, no spoilers here.

With a little over a day away from launch, here's a look back on what it took to make #BioShockInfinite. twitter.com/IrrationalGame…

While the image is a little deceptive, with the stack of paper much, much taller than the book, it is interesting to note that the script for the game is almost 20,000 words longer than the average novel. I've heard it said that the average novel is around 90,000 words, so that is a pretty impressive number.

It looks like Elizabeth will get the largest chunk of that script too, unless the 2,478 lines spoken by “other characters” are mostly spoken by one character. Booker only gets around 65% as many lines as Elizabeth, but then he is a mostly invisible protagonist and the story is supposed to be about her.

Outside of what's in the game itself, and as well as burning through enough energy to burn through 8.8 million lightbulbs it looks like the team behind the game spent a lot of time procreating and drinking soda. 40,000 cans of soda drunk and 18 children born? That's around 2,222 cans for each baby.

BioShock Infinite launches for PS3, 360, and PC on March 26 – that's tomorrow, folks! It's gotten good reviews – will you be grabbing a copy, or waiting until the price goes down?
