Recent Wii U Virtual Console Releases In Europe Are Running At 60Hz

March 19, 2013 by Matt Hawkins

And thusly, they won’t have to be reminded of their slow as molasses 50Hz past.

It was previously reported that the Virtual Console version of Ballon Fight for the Wii U in Europe is a bit too close to the original.

To recap, all European video games had to deal with the PAL standard, which ran at 50Hz, where as everyone else, like in Japan and in the US, utilizes the NTSC standard, which has everything going at 60Hz.

The end result is how old PAL games end up running slow, with the speed decrease affecting some games worse than others. Anyhow, many were upset with Nintendo going for such an authentic experience.

But shortly after the outcry, another Wii U Virtual Console title, the SNES classic F-Zero, was released, but running at the correct 60Hz speed.

And as Destructoid points out, the just released Punch Out!!, which is the next release in Nintendo's anniversary program, will also be clocked at 60Hz.

It would seem that Nintendo is clearly listening, at least about this one little thing. Which is better than nothing, right?
