Report: Sandy Hook Shooter Was a ‘Deranged’ Gamer

March 18, 2013 by Stephen Daly

A police report claims Adam Lanza was a “deranged” gamer looking to score easy “points”.

Adam Lanza, the Sandy Hook shooter, who shot dead 20 children and 6 adults in the Connecticut school in December of last year, has been described as a “deranged” gamer.

According to a New York Daily News police source Lanza committed the tragedy in the Newtown elementary school in order to “outscore” the perpetrators of past massacres by scoring easy “points”.

The police report is thought to conclude that Lanza had a list of the names of victims of past mass shootings, as well as the number of people killed, and the make and model of firearm used on those occasions.

“They don’t believe this was just a spreadsheet, they believe this was a score sheet,” the source commented. “This was the work of a videogamer, and that it was his intent to put his own name at the very top of that list.

“They believe that he picked an elementary school because he felt it was a point of least resistance, where he could rack up the greatest number of kills.

“That's what [the Connecticut police] believe,” the source adds.

Lanza “believed that it was the way to pick up the easiest points. It’s why he didn’t want to be killed by law enforcement. In the code of a gamer, even a deranged gamer like this little bastard, if someone else kills you, they get your points.

“They believe that’s why he killed himself,” the source concludes.

The Daily News’ source reportedly attended an International Association of Police Chiefs and Colonel’s conference last week and heard the report from state police colonel Danny Stebbins.

The Sand Hook tragedy has led to widespread political debate over gun control in the United States with the NRA blaming videogames for mass shootings. A month after doing so the organisation released iOS game NRA: Practice Range, they previously released NRA: Gun Club on PS2.
