The 6th Resident Evil Movie Is Due September 12, 2014

March 6, 2013 by Matt Hawkins

Like it or not, but the Resident Evil flicks are unquestionably the most successful game to movie adaptations of all time.

The sixth motion picture to bear the name Resident Evil has a release date. It's September 12, 2014.

ShockTillYouDrop reports that shooting will begin this fall. The sixth film will be the conclusion of the second trilogy that director Paul W.S. Anderson hinted at, just before the start of the fourth film (Resident Evil: Afterlife) of the franchise.

There are no plot details as of yet, let alone a subtitle. Though as ShockTillYouDrop also notes, it will more than likely pick up from where part five (Resident Evil: Retribution) left off: Alice, portrayed by (star Milla Jovovich), in the White House, standing side by side Wesker. Sorry for the spoilers, everyone.

There are many fans of the Resident Evil games, but not ever one of them is a fan of the Resident Evil movies. Many have taken issues will the assorted liberties that they have taken with the source material. Meanwhile, there are others who believe that the precise reasons why the movies are actually halfway decent in the first place is because there is so few connections

Whatever the case might be, the formula that Anderson/Jovovich have struck quite clearly works.

For a while, each Resident Evil movie made more money than the one directly before it. And while Retribution failed to top the box office receipts of Afterlife as expected, it still managed to make over 200 hundred million when all was said and done. The fact that there will soon be six entries is proof enough of its success alone.

For better or worse, RE is the basis for the most successful game to move series of all time. And some might are even willing to wager that its track record is better than the source material. You can all thank the less than stellar 6th Resident Evil game for that.
