Temple Run Does Oz the Great and Powerful

March 6, 2013 by Matt Hawkins

It’s James Franco, running like an absolute mad man!

Available right now is Temple Run: Oz, which combines one of the hottest things going on smartphones today, that being Temple Run 2 by Imangi Studios, plus Oz the Great and Powerful, the upcoming movie from Disney:

This isn't the first time in which Temple Run has been used as the template for a Disney tie-in. Last summer saw the release of Temple Run: Brave, which was inspired by the Pixar movie that is the basis of the latter half of its namesake.

The gameplay of Temple Run: Oz should be instantly familiar to most out there. After-all, Temple Run 2 set the record for fastest growing mobile game of all time, when it was downloaded 50 million times in its first two weeks. That was over a month ago, and who knows how high that number is at this point.

At any rate, it appears to be the aforementioned record setting game, with the visuals changed to reflect the license. Instead of running across some unidentified jungle, you’re speeding across the yellow brick road. And instead of the occasional mine cart ride, you’re instead flying high in the sky in Oz’s inflatable balloon.

The power ups from before have also seemingly carried over. Though, one major difference is price: Temple Run 2 is a freemium title, and is thusly free. But Temple Run: Oz, much like Temple Run: Brave, costs money.  99 cents to be exact.

You get 1,500 coins of in-game currency upfront as well, which is about what you’d get if you gave Temple Run 2 your cash as well. Again, it is available right this moment, for both iOS and Android.
