THQ UK Turns Their Twitter Account Into A Graveyard

March 1, 2013 by Mathew Jones

Spooooooky ghoooooostttssss!!

Yesterday was the last day in the office for the staff of THQ in the UK, and in a fitting send off, they’ve made their twitter profile a memorial site for the company. Their avatar is a gravestone reading the company’s insubstantial years of life, while their header portrays a spooky landscape of misty grass.

The feed’s claiming to be run by ghosts. We’re in no position to disbelieve this as we’re terrified of ghosts and don’t want to even think about getting haunted.

Presumably this account won’t ever be shut down (the team have said they’ll try to keep it running as long as they can) as there’s no one around now to disagree and say otherwise, so this corner of the internet will stand as a loving testament to the former publishing powerhouse. They’ve been kindly showing an admirable amount of professional courtesy to Deep Silver who are now publishing the soon-upcoming Metro: Last Light.

There are still some of the company’s assets yet to be sold. There’s a large amount of content left over that didn’t have anything in active development and therefore were part of the first round of auctions. Double Fine have expressed an interest in reclaiming the publishing rights to their games Stacking and Costume Quest, though it’s possible the IPs that THQ has left over won’t be divide up piecemeal and instead might be sold in bulk. More on that when we’re certain.

Goodbye from all of us at Gameranx, THQ! Godbless, and seriously, no haunting us. That would be awful.
