A Mega Man Laptop Is On The Way

Remember our item about the upcoming line of laptops that are based upon Sega hardware? Seemed kind of random, right? Well, get ready for this: Capcom is looking to produce something similar, but this time starring the Blue Bomber himself, Mega Man.

At first I was going to note, yet again, how the life and times of a Mega Man devotee has been chaotic to say the least. For years the pint-sized robot who is all about fighting for everlasting peace has been treated like a third class citizen, despite being the face of the company before the likes of Ryu, Dante, and Chris Redfield, to name a few, entered the picture.

And only in recent years, has the publisher given Mega Man the credit he is due. But as The Mega Man Network reminds us all, Capcom has been pimping out Rock for many years now, even when they could have cared less about starring him in another games; there's a mountain of toys, soundtracks, apparel to prove his fact.

So perhaps a laptop is not all that crazy in the scheme of things. The Rockman Ultrabook Product Project has Capcom asking users to vote which design they'd like to see on the final product. There are four to choose from, which can be seen here.

You have an extremely boring one that just has Mega Man, just standing there, another that features all the different incarnations of his sister Roll, one that has all the various Robot Masters from past games (which is easily the best one, by the way), and a fairly decent illustration that's reminiscent of the old NES box art days (but which isn't nearly as bad as the one used for Mega Man 1).

To vote, you simply need to make a choice, then submit your age and gender. According to The Mega Man Network, they go on pre-order March 29th and are expected to ship later this summer. No word on specs, except that it'll sport a third gen CP, 14.1" non-glare LCD screen, sold state hard drive, and a 19mm thin form that weighs 1.67kg. Final specs will be revealed before long.
