Google is working on a wearable headset with functionality that resembles the heads-up display worn by Adam Jensen in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and it's one which promises to pull us kicking and screaming into the 21st century.
Today, the company posted a video preview of the Google Glass to provide a fresh look at the hardware and its capabilities. The video, which you can see below, was published right after Google announced plans to expand its pre-order program (via The Verge) for the device.
Unlike previous previews, the new video's more than just a wish-list and offers actual insight into how the Google Glass hardware would work in real-world conditions. The video shows how users will be able to use it to receive and execute on-screen directions, much as Adam Jensen might with waypoint objectives. The system is also able to send voice-controlled messages and search the web using voice commands.
Assuming everything goes to plan, Google is aiming to launch the device in early 2014, and has already deployed developer editions for early adopters.
