Closure, a Puzzle Platformer for Vita, is Free for PlayStation Plus Members

February 13, 2013 by Jordan Erica Webber

It looks like the game is only free in North America

Indie puzzle platformer Closure is the newest addition to the PlayStation Plus Instant Games Collection, Sony has revealed on its blog. The black-and-white game looks a little like Limbo but is a bit more intense, with more of a need for quick reactions. The basic principle is that objects in the environment are only solid as long as they are lit; when things are plunged into darkness, they actually cease to exist. So your character can only walk across something on which light is shining; otherwise, he/she/it will fall straight through the cracks. It makes for some interesting puzzles, with you able to direct the light towards or away from things to manipulate the environment for your own purposes.

Here's the blurb from Sony:

Closure is a unique and stylistic puzzle platformer that takes the concept of light and shadow and twists it up into something never before seen. In Closure’s dark and foreboding universe, the only things that exist are what you can see. An object properly lit up is physically there, yet an object shrouded in darkness ceases to be.

Closure has won a bunch of awards: Gameplay Innovation at IndieCade in 2009, Excellence in Audio at the Independent Games Festival in 2010, and the Grand Prize in the Indie Game Challenge of 2012. So it's obviously worth a look if you're a member of PlayStation Plus, given that it won't cost you a thing. The only downside to all this? It's only on the Instant Games Collection list in North America, as far as I can tell, which means us UK players will have to pay up or miss out.
