Delver’s Drop, a 2D Zelda Styled-Roguelike, needs Kickstarting

There's a hole in the market right now, one left in the absence of a proper 2D Action Dungeon Explorer. There hasn't been a classically styled Zelda in years and there's no official word of another on the horizon.

To tide us over, developer Pixelscopic (best known previously for having put together a variety of Moshi Monsters titles) have announced they're seeking Kickstarter funding for Delver's Drop. The game's a mixture of Zelda's gameplay style, citing Link To The Past directly as something they'd like to emulate, with an aesthetic which immediately conjures The Minish Cap. Adding to the interest, another influence is the random level generation of roguelikes.

Players are dropped into an ever-changing ancient dungeon and have to brave their way further into the depths, solving puzzles and tackling enemies in their path. Interestingly, Delver's Drop uses a physics based system of combat that can have a meaningful impact on the flow of a fight. The interplay between traps, magic and physical attacks can bring about a joyful disorder that makes each encounter unpredictable.

Delver's Drop promises a multitude of different playable classes that level up their abilities independently every time you play, along with finding new equipment to better compliment their growing repertoire of skills. Some of these classes are decided by higher tiers of the backer rewards. If you're able to offer $2,000 you'll have a say in which role you'd like to see included, but if you just want a copy of the game when it's released you can hand over $15.

Since being put up onto the service this past Friday the project has already received $16,000 of the $75,000 it needs to become a reality. With 29 days left, and a pitch as strong as this, it's assured to reach full funding at a comfortable pace.
