Brett Ratner Reportedly Bringing ‘Farmville’ To The Small Screen With New TV Show

February 7, 2013 by Holly Green

The Rush Hour director says he’s "thrilled" to be expanding the brand.

According to a report from Wall Street Journal, director Brett Ratner has attached himself to a new television project based on the Facebook social game Farmville. The farm management simulator, released by the ailing Zynga in 2009 on Facebook, is under the creative helm of Canadian television production company Six Eleven Media, with Ratner acting as executive producer. Says Ratner in a statement:

“FARMVILLE is one of the most exciting brands out there today and its cross-platform opportunities are endless. I am thrilled to be expanding the brand with existing fans and also engaging a whole new audience.”

Say what you will about Farmville's core audience, I have serious doubts any of them would tune into a TV show on the basis of its affiliation with the game. Especially when they could, oh I dunno, live the magic themselves by just planting a garden or watch re-runs of Green Acres.

Oh what am I saying. The man who brought us the Rush Hour trilogy and Horrible Bosses can only be capable of great things. I'm sure CSI Farmville or Invention: Farmville Edition or whatever masterpiece he comes up with will endear us to the medium of television anew.
