Skyrim Dragonborn, Hearthfire and Dawnguard Updated With High Resolution Textures

February 6, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

The DLC for Skyrim have been updated with high resolution textures.

The PC version of Skyrim has been updated yet again. Instead of boring old bug fixes, Bethesda has decided instead to release an update to the game's High Definition Texture Pack, which tremendously increases the quality of the graphics in the game to make full use of powerful PC graphics cards.

The new update includes a host of improvements for textures in Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and yesterday's newly released Dragonborn expansion pack. You'll be looking at high-resolution Netch, Dremora, and a host of other creatures that come with these expansions.

Bethesda notes that you'll need to make sure your PC has the appropriate horsepower to run the game, so you'll need to exceed the game's recommended specs before attempting to install it. You'll need at least 4GB of ram, a DX9 Nvidia or ATI card with at least 1GB of RAM and the latest drivers they have available.

If you've installed it by accident and don't have the power to run the pack, you'll have to untick the HD Textures from the Data Files screen on Skyrim's launcher.

The update weighs in at 4.7GB, so be sure you have enough space for it.
