Given that Capcom was able to successfully revive Devil May Cry, it almost seems like a total no brainer to look into the past even further, for other old IPs that could use a new coat of paint. Especially since certain standbys, like Resident Evil, have performed less than admirably (and which might also be retooled as well).
In an interview with VideoGamer.com, Resident Evil: Revelations producer Masachika Kawata was asked about the possibility of either Dino Crisis or Onimusha making a come back. And considering how Kawata worked on both series perviously, his answer is both surprising and disappointing:
"Capcom has obviously never shied away from bringing back our older IPs to new generations, but I do think it's more important for us to focus on creating new IP as we move forward."
The same source also notes that rumors began floating around last year, of a possible return of Onimusha, but that turned out to be Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z in the end.
Oh well. At the very least, Onimusha fans can simply go back and enjoy all the previous installments, which were all quite good. Whereas the last Dino Crisis, which took place in outer space, was simply wretched and a new installment to wash away those bad memories could definitely come in handy.
In addition to DmC, another success story, which is relatively recent, is Dragon's Dogma. Which is looking to be the next big franchise from Capcom.
