It has been a rather God of War-filled day. First, we showed you Sony's God of War: Ascension Legacy Bundle that not only included a limited edition red magenta PS3, but it also packages all six of Kratos' revenge-filled tales.
Next, there's the live-action trailer released by Sony that shows Kratos reuniting with his family.
If those two weren't enough, we now have 30-minutes of God of War: Ascension's single-player campaign for you to watch, too. Needless to say, there are spoilers within, but to be frank, it's hard not to watch just to see some of Sony Santa Monica's set pieces lined up for the prequel.
Once again, the narration is voiced by veteran actress Linda Hunt as we're shown some of Ascension's amazing visuals come to life. Remember God of War III's intro where you fight on Gaia and how impressive it was? Sony Santa Monica aims to top that and it seems they might have succeeded.
Without going into story spoilers, the footage shows us some of the new moves Kratos can do in Ascension. This time around, Kratos can tether enemies in battle with his chains, knock out enemy weapons out of their hands and even use it against them.
Also seeing a revamp is Kratos' Rage meter. In previous God of War games, the meter was used sparingly for boss fights when you needed a little bit of help to get over the hump; but in Ascension, it fills up at a more rapid pace which lets you unleash the full power of Kratos more often.
It's been known that God of War: Ascension is a prequel, but now we know that it's set roughly six months to a year after Kratos accidentally killed his family. For fans of the series, we all know how that tale plays out. Hopefully, this prequel will also shed some light on God of War III's "odd" ending.
God of War: Ascension is set for a March 12 release exclusively on the PS3.
