ArmA Tactics Announced For Project Shield

January 30, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

The makers of ArmA are developing a game for the mobile platform.

Bohemia Interactive is branching out to devices running on Nvidia Tegra with a new game called ArmA Tactics. Nvidia Tegra powers the Project Shield handheld gaming console, which was announced a few weeks ago at CES.

As the name indicates, it's a part of their ArmA franchise of first person shooter military sims, and it can be seen running on the Tegra-4 powered Project Shield console in a piece of concept art on Nvidia's Project Shield website advertising the game.

The description reads: "Take control of a four-member Special Forces team in this turn-based, close-combat strategy game. With an open-world storyline, it's up to you to decide how to play through your missions and objectives. Whether facing skilled mercenaries or disorganized local militia, your strategy is the only thing that will get you through hours of intense ever-changing action."

News of the game surfaces alongside other titles set to launch with the Project Shield, including Burn Zombie Burn, Blood Sword: Sword of Ruin, Dead Trigger 2, Real Boxing, Rochard, and Sonic the Hedgehog 4. Most of these other titles are already available on other platforms, making ArmA Tactics one of the only games developed for the device.
