Even though it was only released in November, that hasn't stopped Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 from claiming the top spot for most played game of the year on Xbox LIVE.
This info came straight out of Xbox ambassador Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb over on his blog, where he comments that after many days of number crunching, they've compiled the list based on average Unique Users per day (UU) connected to Xbox LIVE between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012.
Here are the top 20 games that got the most play time on Xbox LIVE in 2012:

Overall, the results aren't really surprising. I mean, a Call of Duty game topping the Xbox LIVE activity charts are the norm nowadays. Even so, it's still an impressive feat that after all these years, the brand (Call of Duty) still has a lock on Xbox LIVE's gaming populace.
Which game do you think will earn the spot for 2013? Or won't it matter much once the next-gen consoles come knocking at our doorsteps?
