Launch of Bloodsucking RPG Vampyr Pushed Back to 2018

September 26, 2017 by Katrina Filippidis

Coming next Spring, when the entire Cullen family is on the prowl.

French indie team Dontnod Entertainment (Remember Me, Life is Strange) has announced it will delay the release of Vampyr, its atmospheric RPG set in early 20th century London. Originally pencilled in for a November 2017 release, Dontnod says it was a ‘tough decision’ to postpone launching the game and cited a (now resolved) technical issue as the cause.

A quick glance at Vampyr reveals a dark fantasy inspired, semi open-world structure, and definite echoes of gothic adventures like Bloodborne and Thief. In it, you play as a doctor-turned-vampire who’s struggling to contain his bloodsucking urges. But there aren’t any mountain lions here, and temptation is everywhere. Of course, you don’t have to kill anyone.

Depending on how you play, Vampyr could suck up 15 or 30 hours of your time. There are unique weapons to craft, powerful vampiric skills to master, and gruelling moral dilemmas that will influence the way your story plays out. Will Dr. Jonathan Reid give into the beast?

Vampyr is expected to release in Spring 2018 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

You can pre-order the game now.
