Spil Games, the world’s largest casual gaming company, has just announced the third monthly winners of its pioneering HTML5 coding contest—three new games joining the growing list of titles available to play on a range of mobile phones. Spil Games’ HTML5 contest was launched to drive the adoption of HTML5 development and gaming. The winning developers receive cash prizes and the prestige of having their games played by the largest casual-gaming audience in the world. The contest runs for six months, and each month Spil Games awards prizes of $7,700.

Blast Effect is this month’s top winner. With graphics that really push the frontier of the mobile gaming platform and superlative level design, this is a strategy game ideal for any commute. Lazors bags the runner-up prize this month. Perfectly designed for touch-screen devices, this simple yet engaging game offers hours of fun, challenging players to untangle a matrix of lasers. Finally, Spy Chase, taking this month’s third-place prize, boasts some impressively fast arcade action as players shoot and weave their way through increasingly tricky courses.

Spil Games mobile sites (accessed on any HTML5-compatible mobile device via, for example, agame.com in the US) now play host to 32 cutting edge free-to-play games, each optimized for mobile phones. Top titles include Aqua Labyrinth, Farm Challenge, and Wizard Wars. Each is developed in HTML5 to ensure the widest possible compatibility with handsets worldwide, making these portals the most accessible in the world.

“With over 30 titles now available to play, we’re doing what we promised when we backed HTML5: helping to bring quality HTML5 games to the widest possible audiences,” says Robbert van Os, Spil Games’ HTML5 evangelist. “There is literally something for everyone, and each game is designed to offer phenomenal playability on the move. HTML5 is the future—we’re demonstrating why with our current titles. And there are many more to come.”
