‘Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen’ Release Date Announced

January 16, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

The release date for the Dragon’s Dogma expansion pack has been announced.

Dragon’s Dogma is an RPG from Japanese developers that delivered a surprising amount of depth and featured gameplay not unlike that of a western RPG. The game enjoyed a healthy amount of sales—enough for its publisher to justify wanting to turn the whole thing into a franchise instead of allowing it to languish as a one-off title.

It’s been a year since Dragon’s Dogma release, and Capcom has only just now announced its plans to release an expansion pack for the game. Titled Dark Arisen, it’s a full fledged expansion pack rather than a DLC, and is set to include an all new campaign that expands upon the original game.

The announcement was made at the end of a live Famitsu broadcast. A video of the game in action can be seen below. The footage was released at TGS 2012 last year.

The publisher has given Dark Arisen a Japanese release date of April 25 for both the Xbox 360 and PS3, where it will retail for 4,990 yen—or $56. Expect it to sell for slightly under $50 when it hits the shelves elsewhere in the world. Given its international popularity, I expect that it’ll be out in the west at the same time as its release in Japan.
