The Man Who Made The Original Devil May Cry Is Totally Cool With The Reboot

January 16, 2013 by Matt Hawkins

But old school Dante loyalists are still up in arms, nonetheless.

The Devil May Cry reboot is finally here, and while some are happy with Ninja Theory's fresh spin on Dante, many others are not the least bit pleased. Even though reviews have been mostly positive, old time fans of the series remained unconvinced, They hate the new look, feel, and pretty much everything else associated with DmC.

Some of these folks have decided to hit up Hideki Kamiya, who directed the original Devil May Cry back in 2001, and is currently one of the chief architects at Platinum Games. And his take on the Devil May Cry version 2.0? He's totally okay with it.

As Kotaku points out, Kamiya has taken to Twitter to defend his creation's new stewards. Here's an example:

I've been getting a lot of DmC tweets lately. DmC is a very unique title, and I honestly hope that people enjoy it.

I am also happy to see all of your messages, even though the first Devil May Cry came out 12 years ago.

That being said, DMC has been on its own path for a long time now and asking my opinion of things is pointless.

My only opinion is that people continue to love the Devil May Cry series, both fans and its creators alike. It’s yours now.

And when it comes to the haters:

Enough of these tweets. I'll block those. RT @Brad_D80 Ninja Theory is a bunch of egoist hacks that put their childish crap before making a

Point being, Kamiya is hardly losing any sleep over DmC. Still, even the man himself's "everyone should just chill" stance hasn't stopped legions of fanboys from continuing their bitching and moaning.

The best part is how many are seemingly blissfully unaware that most, if not all, of the changes employed were direct orders from the top, at Capcom. Who wanted a change in direction, for the franchise to have new, wider appeal.
