Sony has detailed some of the freebies coming this week for PlayStation Plus members and depending on your gaming preference, you might wish for more freebies later in the month, or be happy with the update this week.
This week's PSN update will give PS+ members free access to God of War: Ascension's multiplayer beta. While that's not really a free game, PS+ members getting exclusive and early access to betas are one of the selling points of the premium service. In addition to that, Capcom's Mega Man 9 and 10 will also be joining the PS Plus' roster of "free" games for the month.
You can check up on God of War: Ascension's beta by reading through the beta community forum to know what you'll be jumping into. Sony is also giving out a free God of War "Eye of Kratos" avatar for PS+ members, too. So snag that in the PSN Store as well.
For this week's (month?) free game, Capcom's Mega Man 9 and 10 are on the plate. It's developed by going back to its 8-bit roots to deliver a classic and I assume thumb-numbingly hard platform experience.
Rounding out the updates this week are a 50% discount on real-time strategy game Eufloria, and a free NCAA Football 13: Recent Winners pack, which will unlock Tim Tebow, Mark Ingram and Matt Leinart for use in Heisman mode.
Disappointed by this week's offerings? We'll be sure to post an update if and when Sony gives out anything substantial within the month. Personally, I'm quite tempted to renew my PS+ membership just to be able to play Mega Man 9 and 10 for "free." But then, that's just me.
Are you disappointed with PS Plus' first update of 2013 or are the Mega Man games and the Ascension beta a good way to start it off?
