Guillermo del Toro In Talks with a “Very, Very Big Company” for inSane

January 7, 2013 by Alex Co

Guillermo del Toro’s inSane is now being looked n by a “very, very big company.”

During THQ's financials earnings call in August of last year, THQ president Jason Rubin revealed that acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro's inSane horror game was officially cancelled.

Now, it seems, the game is back on track and with a vengeance. In an interview with the Toronto Sun where he revealed that Portal's GlaDOS' voice-over actress was hired for Pacific Rim, he also revealed that he's now in talks with a "very, very big" company that "really responded" to the game.

We are in talks with a very, very big company. I can’t say who, but it’s one of the big ones. They really responded to the game, they responded to what we were trying.

Some of the devices of the game I need to update, because now I’ve seen them in other games that just came out. That always happens. But the principle we’re trying to do with the game is to make it a really immersive narrative experience. It’s still a really challenging proposal.

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say this "very, very big company" might either be EA, Activision or Ubisoft. Of course, there's also the chance that it could be Sony or Microsoft, too. Although, if I was a betting man, I'd put my money on either EA or Ubisoft. EA since they do experiment with new IPs once a new console cycle starts, and Ubisoft since they need more big-name IPs to strenghten their portfolio.  I don't see Activision touching it unless they can turn it into an annual franchise, and let's be honest, horror games aren't as lucrative a market as the military FPS genre.

Which company would you want inSane to end up with? Would you be okay if it was bought out by Microsoft or Sony and in turn be a platform-exclusive?

Thanks, VG247
