‘James Bond’ Games Pulled by Activision from Steam and Web Store

January 4, 2013 by Alex Co

007 is getting yanked by Activision both on Steam and even on its own web store.

Do you like James Bond games? If so, you'd better have already purchased the latest game in the spy franchise, which 007 Legends, or you won't have the chance to do so now.

It seems Activision is pulling its James Bond-licensed games both from Steam and even on their own web store. The games that were yanked are Quantum of Solace (2008), James Bond 007: Blood Stone (2010) and 007 Legends.

The titles disappearance was first noted by Steam users on the platform's forums. Also, a quick look at Activision's online store also confirms that any trace of 007 has been erased as well.

So, what does this all mean? Could Activision's license have expired or are they cutting back on making licensed games? Of course, the fact that all three James Bond games weren't exactly great, makes this less of an issue than it really is. Out of the three James Bond games listed above, only Quantum of Solace's developers are still alive — and that's mostly due to Treyach being a Call of Duty studio more than anything. The other two, Bizarre Creations and Eurocom have already closed shop and some of the blame can be placed on the release of their mediocre James Bond games.

Would you want Activision to cut back on developing licensed games or are you still hoping that a James Bond game as iconic as GoldenEye will someday be released?
