Polygon has just published details concerning the home video release of Disney's Wreck-It Ralph. For starters, it will be released on both DVD and Blu-ray on March 5, though the digital version will arrive much earlier, on February 12.
There will be two digital versions to choose from, HD Digital and HD Digital 3D. It perhaps obvious what the key differentiating factor is between the two. But less easier to grasp are the physical versions. First you have the stand alone DVD release that's just the movie, ma'am.
Next is the two disc Collector's Edition, which includes both the DVD and the Blu-ray. After that is the four disc Ultimate Collector's Edition release, and that one contains the DVD, Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, and digital copy.
And what home video release is complete without special features? In the case of Wreck-It Ralph, you have the following, repeated verbatim from the press release:
- Bit by Bit: Creating the Worlds of "Wreck-It Ralph" — Fans of the film will get a look at five new worlds created for "Wreck-It Ralph." The short takes viewers into Game Central Station with the artists who brought Sugar Rush, Hero's Duty and Fix It Felix Jr. to life.
- Alternate & Deleted Scenes — Four separate scenes are highlighted with an introduction and optional audio commentary from director Rich Moore.
- Video Game Commercials — Viewers can check out the commercials created for the video games featured in the film – Fix It Felix Jr., Sugar Rush, Hero's Duty and Fix It Felix Hammer.
- "Paperman" — This animated short film played in theaters before "Wreck It Ralph." It tells the story of a young man in an office who sees the girl of his dreams in a skyscraper window across the street. But how can he get her attention?
It's worth noting that the special features will be included in both the combo packs and the digital releases. The Blu-ray will also feature another bonus that has Chris Hardwick guiding viewers as he points out all the various video game and Disney references that are scattered throughout.
No word yet if all the candy references will be included. Which there were a ton.
