THQ Bankruptcy Filing Reveals Game Details From Multiple Studios

December 19, 2012 by Holly Green

The filing reveals what’s in store for several studios.

Mere hours ago came the not so shocking news that THQ, responsible for series like Saint's Row, Red Faction, and Company of Heroes, has officially filed for bankruptcy and announced their plans to sell the company. This comes after months of rumors and plummeting stock and was by no means a surprise. But the filing itself did hold a few. Surprises, that is. In the form of details on what some of the assorted studios under THQ are working on. Griffin McElroy over at Polygon took the time to read over the filing and found a few juicy tidbits worth noting. Relic Entertainment, responsible for Company of Heroes and Warhammer 40,000, has a project for 2014 under the working title "Atlas", which evidence suggests may be a free to play game. Vigil Games, the folks behind Darksiders, have an otherwise-undetailed game under the working title "Crawler".

"1666", the name of which was trademarked by THQ earlier this year, is confirmed as a Patrice Desilets' project at THQ Montreal. "Evolve", another name trademarked by THQ recently, is a co-op action title currently underway at Turtle Rock Studios, and numbers indicate it may come out at the end of the fiscal quarter this upcoming March. The rest of the filing doesn't offer much more in terms of details but of note is that they expect Saint's Row 4 to far outweight its other properities in terms of profit value. As the financial forecast unfolds for THQ, we'll see what comes of these games.
