Rayman Jungle Run And The Room Are Apple’s Picks For Games of the Year

December 14, 2012 by Matt Hawkins

Rayman’s auto-run outing and a creepy puzzler that’s clearly inspired by Dan Brown managed to run circles around some fairly stiff competition.

Those who run Apple's walled garden has just revealed what they believe are the best games for iOS for this year.

The App Store's Best of 2012 Game of the Year, in the Phone category, is Rayman Jungle Run. It's quite the distinction, but for this year, the victory is even sweeter, given the plethora of high profile iPhone games that have been released over the past year.

Many would have guessed that Letterpress would have been a surefire winner, but it only managed to nab the Runner-Up slot. Plenty were also expecting Terry Cavanagh's Super Hexagon or RocketCat Games' Punch Quest. But alas, both were completely forgotten.

Meanwhile, the Best of 2012 Game of the Year, for the iPad, is The Room. While the competition was not as stiff as on the iPhone, there were still plenty of great releases this year. Like Walking Mars, which got Runner Up.
