Thumper Bringing Classic Rhythm Action to Xbox One Soon

August 4, 2017 by Katrina Filippidis

Brave rhythm hell for a slice of synthetic heaven.

Formerly a PlayStation 4 exclusive, psychedelic rhythm title Thumper is now expanding its reach to Xbox One.

Developer Drool first launched Thumper on PS4 and PC last October, eventually porting it to Nintendo Switch with a trailer to celebrate. A music game first and foremost, Thumper challenges players with speeding down a hellish highway while mastering new moves, dethroning bosses, and staying in rhythm at breakneck speeds.

Assuming the form of a space beetle with a metallic sheen, you need to complete nine levels of ‘rhythm hell’ and face a psychopathic giant head to reach nirvana. Thumper’s noisy neon visuals are paired with an original soundtrack from Lightning Bolt, a noise rock duo with a history of creating improvisational sounds.

Thumper will be available on Xbox One from August 18. The musically inclined can pick it up through Steam, PS4 and Nintendo Switch for $19.99 USD right now. Thumper also supports VR (Oculus and SteamVR) if you’re after a more immersive melodic experience.
