Konami has revealed a special, limited edition PlayStation 3 console to accompany the launch of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance in Japan. According to Kotaku's resident speaker of Japanese, Brian Ashcraft, the bundle will cost ¥31,960 and include a decorated 250GB console and matching DualShock 3 controller, a copy of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and a couple of download codes for customised wallpaper for the PS3 and a limited edition Cyborg Ninja customised in-game suit.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is Platinum Games' attempt to reboot Metal Gear Rising, which came perilously close to being cancelled back in 2011. It has a new setting, but the plot and the design of protagonist Raiden himself are still in the hands of Kojima Productions. The game will see Raiden as a cyborg ninja seeking revenge for an attack at the beginning of the game. Most of the action will involve swordfighting, which includes a “free slicing” mode that allows Raiden to cut up enemies and objects in the environment into pieces.
This limited edition console will become available in Japan when the game launches there on the 21st of February next year. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will launch in North America on February 19th and across the EU on February 22nd.
