Steam's Big Picture mode, which has been in beta for the past few weeks, has officially launched. For those unfamiliar, it's a graphical interface that is designed for the living room, to evoke an experience that is close to what console gamers have grown accustomed to.
It's part of Valve's attempts at capitalizing other demographics, especially since their dominance of the traditional PC market is fairly rock solid. Plus, given how the Xbox 360 and PS3 are showing their age (with the Wii U not being quite the successor to their thrones), this is the perfect opportunity for PC gamers to impress upon their friends why their platform of choice is the superior one.
Specifically those who have been wary of various stigmas associating with PC gaming. Like how complicated and non-user friendly that world supposedly is (and to a certain extent, they have valid points). And, to help promote the new initiative, Steam is doing what they do best, and that's throwing a sale.
The price has been slashed on various games that are deemed "controller-friendly". Including big name titles like Left 4 Dead, Portal 2, plus lesser-known offerings, including Wizorb and Sine Mora. The sale runs until December 10th.
