Bioshock Infinite Fans Disappointed By Uninspired Cover

December 1, 2012 by Holly Green

Was it "Irrational" to not put fan favorite Elizabeth on the cover instead?

This morning 2K Games officially unveiled the cover art for the upcoming Bioshock Infinite, sparking a wave of criticism across the web as fans take to Twitter and comment sections to voice their disapproval. The game, due out this February on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, stars new character Booker DeWitt, the handsome but generally unseen hero of the floating city of Columbia. Instead of portraying the already-iconic Elizabeth or drawing upon the Saturday Day Evening Post inspired pieces reminiscent of the game's early promos, players will be privy to a shot of the otherwise-invisible protagonist as he adopts a variety of movie poster cliches.

As pointed out by many, the art is highly reminiscent of Nathan Drake on the Uncharted: Drake's Fortune cover, down to the three day stubble, chiseled jawline, and gun-slung shoulder. And while I'm not one to judge a game by its cover, all the same, it's disappointing to see a missed opportunity to cultivate the fan's interest in a solid female character.

What do you think of the cover? Will it affect your decision to buy Bioshock Infinite?
