Remember yesterday when we reported that Treyarch pulled the pre-order bonus Nuketown 2025 playlist? Based on the comments still coming in, I'd say people are quite upset with that decision — and with due reason.
Fortunately for Nuketown fans, Treyarch has brought back the map, but in a limited capacity.
Treyarch's official Twitter tweeted this message just an hour ago:
Just launched a new fast-action playlist in the Bonus category called Chaos Moshpit. Back by popular demand: Nuketown 2025!
While the map is indeed back in the rotation, it's still not available in its own playlist like before. For reference, the Chaos Moshpit playlist has the following maps in its rotation: Carrier, Cargo, Express, Hijacked, Slums, Standoff and Nuketown 2025. This was confirmed by game director David Vonderhaar over on Twitter.
So, I take it this image won't be appropriate for the map anymore, no?
Interestingly enough, just a few hours ago, Vonderhaar also tweeted that "you (people) killed the messenger, but I (he) still fights for the users." This was accompanied by a hastag to bring back Nuketown into the fold and you can see the exact tweet below.

While Vonderhaar's earlier tweets requested that people shouldn't "kill the messenger," his tweet above sure seems to imply that Treyarch does have control in regards to what happens to Nuketown 2025; as evidenced by the fact that they can add it in a playlist.
Now, for me, the question here is, why do people even need to campaign for it to the map to be reinstated at all? It's a pre-order bonus; and one that had its own separate playlist. Another question that's still left unanswered is why did they even pull it out in the first place?
Last but not the least, I was assuming the decision to yank the Nuketown 2025 playlist was a "suit" decision over at Activision. But based on Vonderhaar's tweets, it seems Treyarch might have had something to do with it, too. Of course, we can't be certain to that, but if they can add the map back just by campaigning for retweets, I'd say they have more control over it than they're cottoning on, no?
So, there you have it. You can now play on Nuketown 2025 again — though in a limited capacity. Will the Nuketown 2025 playlist be back? Your guess is as good as mine at this point.
