GTA: Vice City Pulled From Digital Stores, Will Return Shortly

November 16, 2012 by Julie Horup

There’s a problem with music licensing.

Thinking about getting Grand Theft Auto: Vice City on your PC? Tough luck, the game has been withdrawn from digital stores albeit just temporarily.

This isn't the first time something like this has happened as the PlayStation Network release of Grand Theft Auto III was delayed earlier this year because of the exact same thing.

According to Game Informer there's a licensing issue with some of the music used in the game which has forced Rockstar to pull the game until the issue has been fixed.

"Due to some music licensing issues, we've had to temporarily remove Vice City PC from digital stores. We'll make it available again as soon as possible," Rockstar said in a statement.

The track causing the problem is "Wanna be Startin' Something" from Michael Jackson, reports Cinemablend.

The song plays on the Fever 105 radio station in the game which apparently didn't sit well with Sony Music Entertainment, who filed the motion to block the song from being used.

Rockstar hasn't confirmed any of this, but representatives told Game Informer that the issue won't have consequences for the upcoming release of GTA: Vice City on iOS later this year.
