Nintendo: Wii U Pricing is In a “Good Spot” and Proof is In the Consumer Response

November 14, 2012 by Alex Co

Nintendo’s Scott Moffitt believes the Wii U price point is at a good spot…

The Wii U's launch is but a few days away and while some people think it's priced too high for relatively "underpowered" tech, Nintendo's executive vice president of sales and marketing Scott Moffitt thinks the Wii U is priced at a "good spot." He adds that proof of this is that the $349 Deluxe Edition set has been quite a mover already.

All I can say is that the response has been phenomenal and we're getting, especially in the higher priced deluxe set, that one's selling out incredibly quickly. That seems to indicate that the pricing's in a good spot and the proof is in the consumer response.

Speaking of the Wii U's launch, the original Wii suffered through massive shortages that became a problem for consumers. While Moffitt can't guarantee that each customer that wants a Wii U will get one, he did stress that they will have more systems on hand for the Wii U than they did for the original Wii and what's more, replenishment stock will come at a more frequent pace.

I can tell you this – on opening week we will have more systems on hand for the Wii U than we did for the launch of Wii. And, second, our replenishments will be more frequent this holiday time than during the Wii launch.

Which one of you will be picking a Wii U up on November 18? Do you think it's priced at  "good spot" or should it be a few bucks lower? If you're getting one, which games are you getting on launch day?
