FigurePrints Can Make A Real World Replica Of Your Minecraft Creation

November 13, 2012 by Matt Hawkins

It’s like having a keepsake of that time you went to Disneyland. Only different.

We all love going to foreign places, and experiencing new sights, sounds, and tastes. And once it is time to return home, many of us like having some kind keepsake, to remind us of the adventures that were had. Whether it be pictures that detail the trip, or better yet, some knickknack that is indigenous to those parts. So why should video games be any different?

Take Minecraft for example. Granted, the comparison might seem a bit off. After all, you're not spending time in some foreign land, but someplace that is shaped by yourself. That being said, much of the joy from the game stems from building the world as you see fit. Though any veteran player will tell you how chaotic such lands can be (depending on how one plays the game, of course).

With all that in mind, having some form of physical object that shows everyone else what wondrous lands one was able to traverse and mold, even if it was virtual, is not such a bad idea. And that's where FigurePrints comes in. As Joystiq explains, the outfit's specialty is creating real life recreations of in game content, though the use of 3D modeling and "next-gen fabrication techniques".

To have a portion of your Minecraft real estate (or even the entire thing) immortalized in the real world, simply download their application for Windows XP, Vista, or 7 (sorry Mac users, or those of you on the Xbox 360) and follow the steps. Everything you need to know can be found here.
