According to Eurogamer, Sony has begun to finally take steps to secure the PlayStation Network. Specifically, they are attempting to deal with the threat of the PS3 lv0 boot loader key leak, and the ability for hacked consoles to play alongside users who are legally playing.
Sony has issued a statement revealing that it has begun permanently banning users that it has found who violate their “System Software License Agreement for the PlayStation 3 System and the Terms of Services and User Agreement for the PlayStation Network/Sony Entertainment Network and its Community Code of Conduct provisions.” They have admitted this move was specifically aimed at “unauthorized software for the PlayStation 3 system” that was “recently released by hackers”.
If you are guilty of violating these terms, but have not been banned yet, Sony is offering some asylum. Well, they are advising you anyway, to “avoid permanent termination, consumers must immediately cease using and delete all unauthorized or pirated software from their PlayStation 3 systems."
