Almost one week has gone by since the release of Prey, Bethesda’s atmospheric sci-fi shooter. That hasn’t stopped those who are especially keen from beating the game within 20 minutes. Bethesda’s policy of retaining review copies of games until release means a few of the reviews below are still in progress – but there are more than enough numbers to work with. Prey is a re-imagined version of the 2006 shooter developed by Arkane, and so far, the reviews seem generally positive. On Metacritic, Prey is averaging a score of 78 amongst critics (PC). This result is slightly lower than the original, which achieved a score of 83, but since only 15 publications have submitted critiques for the re-imagined Prey its metascore is likely to change.
Prey made its debut on the UK charts in second place, just behind Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Here at Gameranx, we thought it was an intelligent sci-fi thriller. But what’s everyone else saying?
